Evening at Uig Bay
Isle of Lewis, Scotland
"The great bay at Uig on the Isle of Lewis has been a travelers delight since well before the Vikings made it a regular stopping place. I photographed it for our National Geographic Magazine story on the Hebrides of Scotland where this image was published as a gatefold. With a superb calm evening, the bay full at high tide, and a truly spectacular sky I had plenty to work with. I shot this as a multi-image panorama to be sure that it had the highest possible image quality and perspective. Such situations don't come together very often so I often feel a special obligation to the moment and the place when they happen."
