Callanish Stones
Isle of Lewis, Scotland
Unframed archival pigment print
My evening at the Callanish Stones extended all through the night as I worked to capture something special for our National Geographic story on the Outer Hebrides. The moment finally came at about 4:00 in the morning as the dawn was beginning and the power of my flashlight to light up the stones was about gone. But the resulting image was a centerpiece of our story, and the night one of my cherished memories. Within minutes the first bird sang it's welcome to the morning and the air stirred amongst the stones. My night amongst the Callanish Stones was over.
