Far and Away
Assynt, Scotland

Unframed archival pigment print

"Searching for the essence of the Scottish Moors for National Geographic I hoped to find a place to see the vast expanses.  I found it here atop Sgorr Tuath in the Assynt region of Scotland, far out in the northwest. An incredible view up here looking over to Stac Pollaidh (Stack Polly, as it is known), part of the Coigach and Inverpolly area. For me (and many others) this scene was reminiscent of the American Southwest."

"It was a slog getting up here even though Sgorr Tuath is “only” 1932 feet high, not even one of Scotland’s famous Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet.)  But you get some idea of how many mountains there are in Scotland when you consider that standing here I was on Scotland’s 2,944th tallest peak."
