The Old Man of Storr
Isle of Skye, Scotland
Unframed archival pigment print
Standing above the The Old Man of Storr my view of the Isle of Skye was layered with complex geology, the story of volcanoes, land slips, mountain uplift and erosion. But mostly it was just spectacular, and I had a really brilliant day with shafts of light and shadows quilting the scene. Amazing to think what earthly turmoil went into making this scene. This image for our National Geographic story on the Hebrides Islands of Scotland was featured over two pages, and has since been a signature image for National Geographic around the world.
